Gilcreek Scout Camp, Albany

Gilcreek is located on Norwood Road, Lower King and backs onto the serene King River, 12 kilometres north of the Albany CBD.

This 8 hectare bush site has plenty of room to allow camping, canoeing, bushwalking, navigation and campfires. There is an abundance of wildlife to observe and many wildflowers in spring. A large grassed oval provides a great activities area when a lot of room is needed.

Within an hour of the camp site are tourist attractions such as Whaleworld, Princess Royal Fortress, the Porongurup Range, Middleton Beach, Two People's Bay nature reserve (ideal for whale watching July - October) and many walk trails including the Bibbulmun Track and it's Southern Terminus.

A little bit further out is the picturesque Denmark Townsite, Stirling Range and Valley of the Giants at Walpole.

Gilcreek has a variety of accommodation to suit all requirements, such as;

Michaelmas and Breaksea Dormitories

 These two dorms can accommodate up to 30 people in each, in a number of rooms with double bunks. Some rooms sleep four, others six.

Bunkhouse

The Bunk house is a rustic wooden structure with a high pitched roof and Stable Doors. The elevated wooden floor is perfect for either Joey or Cub Scout accommodation, or just use it for indoor activities if you prefer.

Camping sites

There are a number of cleared bush sites set up specifically for camping, with cooking fires able to be lit between April and November unless further bans are imposed.

John Barnesby Flightdeck

The Flightdeck is our Kitchen and Dining facility, with commercial ovens and stoves in the kitchen to feed the masses, and dining for up to 60 people. The Flightdeck becomes a very useful activities area between meal times.

Shirley's Den

Also available to visitors is the Scout Memorabilia Collection of the Great Southern housed in Shirley's Den. Arrangements can be made to view this collection when making your booking.
