Youth Program

Scouting is a fun, challenging and rewarding experience for young people aged 5 to 25.

Scouts WA is an inclusive organisation supporting the development of young people in our Western Australian community – creating moments that challenge, inspire, and connect our young people, sharing extraordinary adventures and unforgettable experiences.

Join your local group and begin a life-changing journey through Scouting, with age-appropriate activities for every child to enjoy.

To join Scouts, or to find out about your closest group, get in touch: Scouts WA Membership Enquiry (office.com), and we will help set you up with some free visits!

Membership Fees

The cost of participating in Scouts comprises of:

  • An annual Scouts WA Membership of $208 per year. This covers insurance, leader training, administration and continual improvements to the Scouts Australia program. This is paid at the date you start your membership and lasts for 12 months.
  • A local Scout Group fee (on average $320 per year). This fee covers the cost of equipment, supplies, maintenance and general running costs. This is paid directly to the Scout Group in quarterly instalments.
  • There are also additional fees for events and activities organised by Scouts WA or the Group. This covers things such as transport, food or entry fees. These are charged as they occur and these activities are optional. In such cases, we aim to keep costs to families as low as possible.

We offer a free 3-week trial for new members to come and try Scouts and attend the meetings prior to signing up.

A shirt and optional belt are all that makes up the basic Scout uniform. These items can be purchased from the Scout Shop: www.scoutshop.com.au. Scarves and badges are provided by the local Scout Group.

Each level of Scouts runs its own age-appropriate activities. The best place to see what our groups get up to is to search your local Scout Group on Facebook.

Do I need to wait until the start of term to join?
You can start at any time of the year. Your Scouts WA Membership fee lasts for 12 months from the date you sign up.

When do meetings run?
Meetings are run weekly and are usually based around school terms. Meeting days and times are listed in the ‘Join Scouts’ search above.

Do parents and guardians attend the meetings?

How can I become an adult helper?
Whether you are completely new to Scouting or you were a Scout yourself, you will probably enjoy sharing your child’s Scouting experience. Scouting is a great way for families to participate in new adventures and activities together and we warmly welcome new adult helpers. Scouting is a volunteer-led organisation and there are many ways to get involved and support your child through their Scouting journey. This may be through assisting with the weekly program or going on camps as an adult helper, taking on a committee position, assisting with fundraising, or even becoming a Leader.  You can find volunteer opportunities by emailing recruitment@scoutswa.com.au or calling (08) 6240 7700.
