The Western Australia's Branch Youth Council (WABYC) applications for the 2017-2019 council are now open! The WABYC is a youth-led council with members from Scouts, Venturers and Rovers. The WA Branch Youth Council is a representative and advisory body to Scouts, who research and voice the perspectives and opinions of the youth of Scouts WA.

Adult Recognition Award nominations (ARA) for 2017 are now open! This is an opportunity to recognise all of the brilliant Leaders that make the delivery of the day-to-day Scout program so fantastic for our youth members. Do you know a brilliant Scout Leader? Nominate them for an award by submitting the ARA nomination form found here.
Changes to the award process this year include no longer needing a team leader or formation leader to endorse the nomination, and a requirement of the E-learning module WHS being completed for consideration for ANY award. Please note that for awards of Silver Wattle or higher, nominees will require a Wood Badge in the section they are leading currently. Further guidelines for submission can be found here.
Applications close 5pm, 10 March 2016. Applications should be emailed to email@example.com or can be posted to BHQ addressed to the ARA Co-ordinator and should be marked as “Private and Confidential”.

Joey Leap 2017
What are your Joeys doing the 1 April 2017? Come join in the fun of Joey Leap and experience the adventurous activities of the Rope Bridge and the Junior Climbing Wall. Joeys can experience what it is like for a person with special needs and some of the challenges they may face. With your buddy there are lots of craft activities to do, as well as mob challenges, sporting events and lots of food - four hours of fantastic fun! Registration will be via the new MyScout Events Module which listed leaders in charge of formations in MyScout can access. The link is on the flyer and a registration option will appear in MyScout on Tuesday 20 December 2016. Only Leaders listed as in change of the formation (Group Leaders, the Joey Leader) will be able to register their leaders and Joeys. Other eligible members will be able to register themselves only.

MAC Adventure Days 2017
Booking are now open for the MAC Adventure Days 2017. There will be four fully facilitated activities run over the course of each day, with the activities varying each month. Participants will also get the opportunity to try out one of our brand new activities ‘MAC points’ on several of the days, as well as any favourites.

New Policy and Procedure - Scout Group Property
The Local Government Authority and Scout Group Property policy was created to ensure a consistent approach is taken to property matters.
The purpose of the procedure document is designed to:
• Ensure Groups consult with BHQ Facilities Officer prior to liaising with Local Government Authority(LGA) regarding property matters
• Guide and assist Groups with development planning and the preparation of property development/improvement documents.
• Assist Groups with facilitating lease/license or hire agreements
• Assist Groups with other related property issues which require LGA intervention

New Regional Chief Commissioner Perth South - Llew Withers
The Chief Commissioner is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Llew Withers as the new Regional Chief Commissioner for Perth South. Llew has a great depth of experience in Scouting in WA and has been an integral part of the Perth South Region Team from day one. Llew is replacing Jo Meuli who is continuing with the Perth South Team as DC for Beeloo and ADC Minnawarra. Perth South will be in good hands.
